We have recently discovered a new park near Nashville that has become one of our favorites! Preservation Park, located about 30 miles south of Nashville in Thompson's Station, TN is a beautiful 200 acre park. The property was once part of the Battle of Thompson's Station during the Civil War. Once you hike to the top of the large hill, you can see why it was an important part of the battle. The 360 degree view from the top no doubt offered the soldiers a great lookout point.
The trail from the parking lot starts through a grassy field and up toward the main hilltop. On our hike here this past Saturday, we continued on the Depot Trail, an easy trail meandering through the trees. We then continued north on the Railroad Trail to the Nutro Dog Park. We then retraced our steps south on the Railroad Trail, back up to the hilltop and to the car for a total of 4.18 miles.
We highly recommend checking this park out if you're in the area. It's only about 45 minutes from our house, so I can see us visiting here often when we don't feel like driving so far to hike!
